No mommy hasn't forgotten about me...she's just been so busy with work and school! She finally has a week off before she starts clinicals so maybe she will finally be able to catch up on my blog. I'm such a big girl now. (Just so everyone knows, mommy is planning on posting at least 10 entries this week so be prepared. They will be going all the way back to March so you might have to scroll down a bit to see the ones from then) I hope you enjoy catching up on my life and as always please leave me comments. I would like to introduce Robert Michael C ** . Robbie was born at 26 weeks and 2 days gestation. He has a long road ahead of him and he, his mommy, Trish,and daddy David need lots and lots of prayers. (Trish is a good friend of mommy's. When Trish was pregnant for the very first time, her and mommy had the same due date. Unfortunately Trish miscarried. I am here though and Trish is my 'special' mommy.)

Here's the shortened version of his story. Trish had been having really bad heartburn for the last couple days but no other real problems. She bought a BP cuff...just because and got some high blood pressures at home but just thought it was because it was the wrong size cuff. Another friend encouraged her to call her OB which she did on Thursday. They had her come in and her blood pressure was 164/114 and she was spilling protein. She earned herself immediate admittance to the hospital. They attempted to keep her pregnant for at least 48 hours in order for the steroids for lung maturity to maximize. She made it 45 hours before she got an awful headache, blurred vision, stomach pains and increased swelling. Delivery was imminent. She delivered Saturday May 31st at 11:22 am. Robbie weighs a whopping 1 pound 7 ounces. Mommy Trish and Robbie are doing well now. As Trish said today when mommy went to visit, it's been an uneventful 24 hours and that is exactly what they need. You can read more of Trish's story on her blog. I linked it above. Please pray for Robbie, Trish and David. They will have a lot of ups and downs.

7, 8, 9...

Months that is! Can you believe that I am almost 10months old? Don't remind mommy as she can't believe I'm growing up so fast! Highlights from the last 3 months:

Drinking only from a cup (no bottles for me)
Eating real people food with only occasional baby food mixed in (I LOVE grilled cheese sandwiches, goldfish crackers, graham crackers, chez-its, waffles, pancakes and crackers)
I have 2 teeth--both on the bottom. Teething was NOT fun!
I am crawling and pulling up on everything that I possibly can
I'm sleeping through the night (although this is really not new, I just wanted to share, ok...brag)
I'm saying mama and dada and at times it sounds like I am saying Hi there, All done and Yeah
Having tea parties with all my stuffed animals when I am suppose to be napping in my crib
Sitting in a big girl car seat instead of the carrier
Giving kisses
Playing Thomas' piano much to his annoyance

Purina Farms

It was quite a drive but so much fun to head out to Grey Summit, MO and visit Purina Farms. We saw a dog show, cows, bunnies, piglets, goats, kittens, dogs and horses. I'm sure that there are even more animals that I am forgetting! After seeing all the animals, we had a picnic in the car! It was a tight fit but we all sat up front and ate our lunch. I hope we get to go back!

Suson Farms

Daddy happened to be off on Friday so we met up with my godfather Chris at Suson Park and Animal Farm. Thomas enjoyed the animals much more then me, but I had fun hanging out with mommy and Chris and listening to them talk nursing. I did get to see the cows, horses, sheep and goats. I even tried feeding a goat but it didn't quite work.

If you remember from a while back, mommy and daddy's friends Sara and Jake had a little girl in November. We have never met her because they live all the way in the middle of the Kansas, but they came to St. Louis in April for Call Day at the Sem and they stopped by for a visit. I had never met Sara or Jake since they left for Kansas weeks before I was born. I can't wait until they move back here in July/August because I think Adeline and I could become fast friends! (even though she is bigger then me!)

On one of the ~~beautiful~~ days in May, grandma came over and mommy, grandma, Thomas and I went to the zoo and met up with Marc and Cheryl. Even though it ended up pouring for a bit, we still had fun. We rode on the Conservation Carousel and of course we had to ride on the train. We made it almost everywhere we wanted to go EXCEPT to see Dinoroarus. Oh well…we’ll just have to go back! Darn

My first Easter

Easter weekend:
Nana spent the night and then we headed off to church in the morning. After church, we met up with grandma at the Wildflower Cafe in the CWE for some YUMMY food. After brunch, we were going to head to Forest Park for some pictures but it was SNOWING!! So we headed home instead to see what the Easter Bunny dropped off. After looking at our awesome baskets, the goal was for everyone to take a nap, however I think the only person who took a nap was Nana! After our lack of nap, mommy piled Thomas and I into her car and headed up to her Aunt Donna's house where we had more yummy food. Thomas and I of course fell asleep in the car seconds after getting on the highway and slept the entire way to her house. Mommy wishes the same was true for the way home, but I wanted nothing to do with sleep. I cried for about 4 miles although mommy says it felt like 400miles! Sorry mommy, I wanted to look outside and I couldn't see in the dark.

When mommy heard that her alma mater was having an Easter Egg hunt, she knew she had to take me and Thomas. What she wasn't counting on was the extremely COLD weather. Oh well, I may not have gotten to hunt for eggs, but I did get to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap. I wasn't too thrilled at first but once I realized that mommy wasn't leaving, things were MUCH BETTER!

Mommy, Daddy, Thomas and I packed up the car and we were headed to KC, MO for a couple of days while mommy attending a nursing symposium. Daddy was left to tend to me and Thomas for the day and a half while we were there. Besides getting lost trying to find mommy in Crown Center, we had a great time and I got to meet Daddy's friend, Jim. The trip wasn't so fun...have you tried sitting in a carseat for 5 hours?? We did stop at Wendy's in Columbia for a little break on the way there and at Hardee's on the way back. I would have much rather been with mommy though. But those silly laws say that I have to stay in the carseat. BLAH!

Mommy, Daddy, Thomas and I had breakfast with the Easter Bunny at the zoo in March. I'm not sure about this whole 'breakfast' thing though. I had a jar of baby food while mommy, daddy and Thomas got to eat sausage, quiche, and potatoes. Do you see anything wrong with that picture??? I did enjoy sitting on the bunny's lap though and I also liked looking at all the animals that came around. I even got to sit on the duck's lap! Of course, we HAD to take a family picture by the waterfall in the cold might I add. After breakfast, we took a little (ok quick) stroll around the zoo so Thomas and I could see all the animals. I saw and I slept. I had a nice full belly and I was nice and cozy inside my snuggleMe. I'm sure mommy and daddy will take me the zoo some other time...Hopefully when it is warmer to see all the animals!

Mommy, Daddy, Thomas and I went to Macy's downtown to see Santa and to look at the store windows that were decorated for Christmas. I didn't like sitting in the stroller because I couldn't see anything so daddy carried me in his coat. The store windows told the story of Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus. I didn't quite understand everything but it was fun looking at everything moving. You know what else? Santa wasn't scary at all and I didn't cry at all.

It has been such a busy month for me. Mommy went back to work and I have been learning so many new things. I love to roll from my belly to my back, I have definitely found my hands and love putting them into my mouth, I love laughing at daddy's jokes even though they really aren't funny and I LOVE talking to mommy, daddy, Thomas and whoever else will listen to me. (See my video below)

Earlier this month, mommy and I went to a baby shower for mommy's cousin and I was so good! I also met mommy's great aunts Haley and Judy and her second cousin, Connie at the baby shower. I can't wait for baby Mason to arrive. The holidays will be so much fun with someone else my age to play with!!!

My first thanksgiving was great! Mommy, Daddy, Thomas, Grandma and I all went to Aunt Donna's house and almost everyone was there (everyone except Kate, Josh and Bryce :( ) I made sure to get some beauty sleep on the way there. Once we got there, I fooled mommy and daddy into thinking that I would sleep through dinner because no sooner then they sat down I woke up and wanted out of my card seat. Chris my godfather got me out and held me for awhile while mommy and daddy were eating. I didn't understand why they got to eat and I didn't so as soon as mommy was done,I got to eat too! Everyone got to hold me and I was such a good girl. Once I started getting tired though I only wanted mommy but after my little siesta, I was good as new. I can't wait until I get to see everyone again!

Remember awhile back mommy talking about the sleep lady? Well mommy started me on a routine and it is going so well. Mommy can't stop thanking Heather for introducing her to Kim West. My routine goes something like this:

7:30 wake up and eat
9:30 nap
11:30 lunch
1:00 nap
3:30 snack
6:00 dinner and nap
9:00 snack and bedtime

For the last week or so I have been sleeping from 9pm-7:30am and sometimes only waking because I lost Piglet (my pacifier) but other nights I sleep straight through the night. Mommy knows me sleeping through the night might not last but she loves getting her sleep now!

Hopefully things will calm down some and I will update my blog more often.

Yep, I had to go see Dr. Rezabek again. I wasn't happy about getting weighed but I was fine when Dr. Rezabek came in to check me over. He said he was very happy with me and how I was doing. Then he left and the nurse came in. She gave me 4 shots and even had me drink another one. I was NOT happy about that at all and I let mommy and the whole office know about it. I did get some cool band aids but they weren't cool enough for all the pain. :( I wonder if I am done with shots yet?

ROLL OVER!

Yes you read that right. I can roll from my belly to my back now. Whoo HOO no more tummy time! Last Thursday when we went for my 2 month checkup (and SHOTS but more on that later), mommy put me on my belly for a little bit, well, she turned around for a second since Daddy was suppose to be watching me and I rolled over on the exam table. Guess that means no more belly time on my changing table. Mommy tried to take some pictures of me doing it again when we got home, but it took me forever to figure it out again. I eventually did it, but mommy missed it. Oh well, I'm sure I'll start doing it a lot more soon.

My godmother Kate lives in San Diego because she's a Navy Wife. Because of the wildfires, they are on voluntary evacuation. The highway by there house is shut down and Kate is moving onto the navy base while Bryce is out to sea. Kate is scared and needs all the prayers she can get. Thanks!

If you have read my brother's blog, you know that we went to the pumpkin patch on the 14th with my playgroup friends. It was 80 degrees and NOT the weather for my cow costume, so I was a little girl instead. :)

I have so much blogging to catch up on but NO pictures to show for it. You see, our digital camera broke earlier this week and we hadn't downloaded the pictures yet. I took the media card to good ole Walgreens to make a CD however because there were video files on it, they couldn't make a CD. :( The manager told me she would try to play around with it, but couldn't make any promises. However have no fear, the new digital camera arrived today (my early birthday present). Pictures will be forthcoming, but until then...bear with me as I recount the last couple weeks.

Clare has been a busy girl the last couple of weeks! She's been growing like a weed. She is *starting* to get a routine of sorts. At night I can usually count on her going to bed between 9:30 and 10, waking for a feeding sometime between 3 and 5 and sleeping until 7 or 8 depending on how soon Thomas wakes her up. Morning naps are still hit and miss but her first afternoon naptime is around noon and then again around 5 or 6. Clare loves to smile at her brother and she is starting to babble so much more...we even think she is singing along sometimes to Daddy's classical music. (GO FIGURE! :) )

Clare is also learning to love the camera...she should afterall since she has had pictures taken every 2 weeks (!) so far! We had a friend of mine come 2 weeks ago and take pictures for fun and practice so I'll post those when we get them. Today we had her 2 month pictures taken so be on the lookout for those soon. For all of you that wanted a good picture of her christening gown, I think we got it.

On Tuesday, mommy, daddy, Thomas and I took our first trip to the....LIBRARY! I got to meet all of daddy's friends there. Everyone came out to see me and Thomas. Even though I slept the majority of the time,I can't wait to go again. Thomas told me going to the library is lots of fun and that everyone showers him with attention! Maybe next time we go I will be awake and can see everyone!

Quick update.....

We are finally HOME! We were discharged from the hospital Monday around noon but when we arrived home, we soon realized that our A/C was completely OUT. The coolest room in the house was Clare's room, but once you put 4 people in there it really isn't that cool anymore. We called our favorite repairman, and once he came out he tried fixing it, but essentially took the wait and see approach. Considering it was 89 in the house and 100 plus outside, we didn't last long. We packed everything up, and headed to Grandma's B house. We ended up spending the night there. I got little sleep since Clare was sleeping in her carseat and I was worried about her all night, plus she decided to go on a one day nursing strike and not wake up to eat. Nothing like adding to the stress! We came home Tuesday morning where it was relatively cool but definitely NOT what it should have been. We stuck it out until 6 AFTER 2 repairmen came and we had to make the decision to purchase a brand new a/c furnace system. Just what we wanted to do! UGH! We went back to Grandma B's that night. We ended up being there all day Wednesday as well, but at least Tuesday night I had a bassinet courtesy of Aunt Lisa and Uncle Tim for Clare to sleep in. She only woke up twice through the night. Heavenly I tell you!

Wednesday we made it home to a nice cool house and it is wonderful! I never thought sleeping in my own bed could be so wonderful. Clare is eating around midnight, waking at 3 or 4 for a feeding and then again around 7. She cluster feeds most of the day eating every 2 hours for 30m or so, but it is wonderful!

We both were at the doctors yesterday. She is still at her discharge weight so I was thrilled by that and she lost her umbilical cord while we were there. Our pediatrician is very happy with her and we go back in a month for her first set of shots. I was at my OB to get my staples out and my incision looks great! I go back next week for an incision check.

I promise to post more pictures soon..once we get them all downloaded and I have a minute.

Clare decided to make her grand appearance at 4:31 pm on Thursday August 9,2007. She is 8 pounds 1 oz and 21 3/4 inches long. She was born via repeat c/s and both mom and baby are doing great.

Thursday update: We are headed to the hospital! My blood pressure was elevated, I was spilling protein and my swelling has increased. My OB is sending me to have blood work drawn but it looks like Clare will be making her appearance later today. Please keep all of us in your prayers....and we will post updates as we have them.

Since it has been 2 weeks since I updated everyone and I had a doctor's appointment today, here's your Clare update.

Everything still looks good. My blood pressure was up a little bit today (140/92) but as we learned last time around, my BP tends to go up at the end. Plus, today's appt was a little harried for us. Thomas was napping, and so I left Steve at home with him and Steve was going to bring him up to meet me in the doctor's office when he woke up. Steve had to be at work at 12:45 and I was worried that Thomas was not going to wake up in time for Steve to make it to work in time. Everything turned out fine and Steve had plenty of time to get to work.

I still have the classic feet swelling, but since I have had it this long (over 8 wks now), it's really nothing shocking.

Warning:TMI to follow...
I spotted last week, but didn't see any reason to call my OB. (afterall, I'm a L&D nurse..I know what's concerning) When I told her today, she wasn't worried...She is pretty sure I just overdid it.

I was tested for GBS as well today and had my first and last cervical exam of the pregnancy. I quote, "NOTHING is coming out down here"

18 days to go...watch for another update next Thursday!

Oh and for anyone who believes the weatherman...here are the predicted high temps for the next 5 days. (can you help me pray for cooler weather?? Thanks!) Friday-95 Saturday-95 Sunday-95 Monday-98 Tuesday-98---and I can't forget the classic line-HOT AND HUMID.

Still Clare! It's definitely a girl! WHEW! and no shock that Clare is measuring a week ahead of schedule. She already weighs 6-15 at 34 3/7 weeks. Looks like I will be having another 9 pound baby. Every time the tech tried to get a good look at her face, she would put her hand up to her face/mouth. We also got to see her hair and the little fat rolls on her chest and belly.

Now if only my swelling went down and I could get some sleep.....

Have I mentioned that we will be meeting her in 33 days??? :)

Mommy and Daddy can't say thank you enough to Aunt Tab and Aunt Lisa for coming over Saturday and helping mommy finish painting your room! It looks amazing! I promise to post pictures soon...as soon as the new fan is installed, the new baseboards are down, the closet organizer is in, and the curtains are hung....it might be awhile!

No Gestational Diabetes for ME!

After a fairly cruddy day yesterday, this was the best news I could have gotten today!

My numbers:
1 hour results
174 (yuck!)
3 hour results
Fasting: 91
1 hour: 182 (yipes)
2 hour: 101 (go pancreas!)
3 hour: 69 (and I wonder why I was so hungry!)

For those of you that don't know, most OB's look for 2 abnormals in the 3 hour. I only had 1! For those that care...here's how they diagnosed GD with a 3 hour.

Fasting	95 or higher
At 1 hour	180 or higher
At 2 hours	155 or higher
At 3 hours	140 or higher

I have learned more then I ever wanted to know about gestational diabetes this week!

I went last Friday to take my 1 hour glucose test. I didn't think anything of it since I didn't have any problems passing it with your brother. Well apparently you had a different idea because on Tuesday mommy got a call from Michelle at Dr. Collins' office telling her that she failed the test and that she would have to take the 3 hour test. Yuck Yuck and Double Yuck! On Saturday, mommy got up bright and early and made it to Quest to sit for 3 hours after drinking that 'wonderful' Orange Glucola. At least the time when by quickly as mommy got to sit and read. And reading is exactly what she did! She looked at homes for sale, read 2 TV guide magazines and almost finished the book that she has been trying to read for week--Honeymoon with My Brother (definitely recommended!). You, miss Clare, didn't know what to think of all that sugar because you kicked like crazy for almost the entire 3 hours! Hopefully mommy will find out tomorrow if she passed or failed. Mommy and daddy are crossing our fingers that mommy passed!

Only 10 1/2 weeks until we see you!

Mommy and Daddy just spent the last 2 hours trying to find you furniture that not only we agree on but that will grow with you as you grow up. And you really need to like it because it was quite stressful for mom to pick out furniture online that she wasn't able to ever see in person. If your kicking is any key, you LOVE it! :)

Addendum 5.22 It really is all the same color:natural. Mommy had to give up on wanting white furniture since only certain pieces came in the white finish. Mommy and daddy spent their 3rd anniversary deciding on and buying you your furniture. We hope you like it. :)

Hello Miss Clare...I just thought that I would fill you in on our day today. After spending half the night kicking mommy, you decided to take an easy morning and while mommy, daddy, Thomas and grandma B hit some neighborhood garage sales, you slept..UNTIL...the one house that had TONS of girl's clothes. As mommy stood searching through piles and piles of hardly worn clothes, you decided to make your presence known and start kicking me. Either you were telling me you didn't like what mommy was picking out, or you loved it and that was your way of telling me. You continued to kick all the way home until mommy laid down for a nap...then you decided to take a little snooze as well. Once mommy and Thomas woke up, we decided to take a little road trip and look at furniture for your room as well as find a glider/rocker/recliner/ottoman. The furniture search was a bust however mommy did find a baptism gown for you but she (with much encouragement from daddy) decided to wait since it all depends on how big you are. Daddy was quite pleased when he realized that mommy is planning to use your brother's baptismal blanket for you as well. Mommy has decided that it is doing to a be a heirloom and hopefully everyone in the family will be able to use it someday.

The most exciting part of the day however was getting your bedding!!!! When mommy ordered it, she thought that it was going to take 4-6 weeks, but instead it took 3 days! Now there is so much more motivation to get your room cleaned out and painted because mommy can't wait to see your room decorated! That reminds me...I need to take a picture of your room before so you see how much work daddy and mommy had to put in it.

Where has all the time gone? It seems like just yesterday mommy showed daddy the positive test and we saw you on ultrasound for the first time. Now you have been movin' and groovin' like crazy and you love to react to ALL the noises your brother makes. Mommy and daddy can't wait to see you. We wonder all the time who and what you are going to look like. Are you going to look like mommy and have dark hair or like your brother and daddy with blonde hair and blue eyes? Are you going to be as big as your brother was or be petite? Are you going to be mommy's girly girl or daddy's little tomboy? How will Thomas react to having you around? Will he be a helpful big brother? So many questions we have...we can't wait to meet you! But please Clare...wait at least 12 weeks...:)

Mommy ordered your crib bedding yesterday as well as some of the accessories for your room. Now mommy and daddy just need to finish cleaning out the room so we can paint it and order the furniture.

Here's the final bedding choice...On another note...mommy hurt her back carrying your brother this weekend and so has spent a lot of time on the couch not being able to move.

Well little Clare we went Thursday and saw Dr. Schnapp. You are doing great! You decided to play peek a boo with the MA though and she had a rough time finding your heartrate. But once she found it you were beating nice and strong in the 150s. Mommy has had no swelling and just some occasional cramping that she thinks is round ligament pain. Mommy told Dr. Schnapp and if continues she will let the office know but right now it is very infrequent.

On Friday night while cousin Kate watched your brother, you, mommy and daddy went to dinner at the Station Grille in Union Station and then to hear Erin Bode perform. You LOVED the last song that Erin sang because you kicked me like crazy the whole time. Even when we got home you were still a movin' and a groovin'. Just like classical is your daddy and brother's thing maybe jazz can be yours and mommy's thing!

On Mommy's last day at the St. Mary's Outpatient Clinic, they threw her a goodbye/baby shower. You are going to be the best dressed little girl! We received clothes, diapers, socks and so many other fun things! Mommy is going to have to change your clothes every couple hours so you can wear all the clothes they gave you! Mommy will post pictures of it as soon as we have a place to hang it all up.

In the past week, you have been moving everywhere! You get really excited when you hear your brother or when mommy is trying to sleep. Monday night daddy even got to feel you kick! You were going to town in there. Maybe that means you will be a soccer player or even a dancer. Your brother loved hearing daddy's music, you tend to go to sleep when you hear it. We went and saw Dr. Collins on the 12th and everything was great. You must have been pretty excited too because your heartrate was in the 150s. You usually like to hang out in the 130s and sometimes the 140s. Not only did we get to listen to your heartrate, we also talked to Dr. Collins about your delivery date. Your eviction papers will most likely come August 14, 15, or 16 and we will be asking that you vacate immediately. We'll let you know a specific date as it gets closer.

Steve, Thomas and I are happy to announce....

Everything looked great on the ultrasound. Little Niblet apparently likes to cover her face as did Thomas in most ultrasounds. We prefer to think she is learning to play peek a boo early rather then being shy around cameras. :)

We'll keep updating as we decide on a name. So far the forerunners are Clare Elyse and Elyse Clare.

Well Niblet, Mommy has taken 2 different quizzes and one says that there is a 60% chance you are a boy and the other says that I have a 47% chance of having a boy. And I have a 52% chance of having a girl. Hmmmmm. Well, I guess we will find our for sure on Wednesday when we have our big ultrasound. Hopefully you will cooperate. Now mommy and daddy just need to decide on names for you in case you are a girl..... Stay tuned.

Mommy had her first Slurpee yesterday since she found out she was pregnant and you LOVED it. You were moving around like crazy. You definitely liked the sugar high...you silly little one!

We saw Dr. Collins today. We also got to hear you on the doppler. Your heartbeat was nice are strong in the 130s. (So much different then your brother who was always in the 150s) Mommy thinks that she is starting to feel you move a little bit. You don't do it constantly, but every so often mommy thinks she feels a little flutter.

Dr. Collins told mommy that we could schedule our comprehensive U/S in the next couple weeks. Mommy made sure to call and schedule it for 4/4 when Dr. Bartlesmeyer would be there. (He did all of your brother's U/S and did our U/S in January) Mommy also has to go and get more blood drawn for the triple screen test. This is going to test to see if you have Down's syndrome, spina bifida or another neural tube defect. Mommy had it done with your brother and everything was great, so she doesn't expect anything but good news.

Mommy got to see you on the U/S again! Instead of trying to find you using the doppler, Dr. Schnapp did an U/S and there you were! We got to see your hands this time. Daddy stayed home with a sick Thomas so he didn't get to see you this time, but we listen to you on the doppler every night. Mommy is still dry heaving every day all throughout the day. But other then that, mommy feels good. She can't wait until we find out whether you are a boy or a girl.

Mommy started her practicum again...and THE DOPPLER IS HERE!!!

Mommy went back to St. Mary's Outpatient Clinic for her practicum. She told Jeanne that she was pregnant and Jeanne was so excited for her. Others found out throughout the day. But the most exciting news of the day was that the doppler came today from BellyBeats! Even though mommy had her practicum all day and had to work tonight...she just HAD to try and listen to you. Mommy wasn't able to find you before work,but as soon as she got home Daddy helped find you. You were happy as can be in there. It was so exciting to be able to hear your heartbeat. We love you!

Visit with Kristen

Today mommy went and saw Kristen the nurse practitioner. She asked mommy a lot of questions while completing the ACOG form. It was pretty boring. We didn't listen or see you at this visit.

Mommy is going to rent a doppler again so Daddy and Mommy can listen to you every night. We listened to your brother every night and loved every minute of knowing you were ok inside of mommy. We can't wait to get it in the mail!
